- New Podcast on DRS 2 in the Simulation Centre USZ and our SNF study "Combined technical and non-technical skills training for managing unanticipated difficult intubations": "Die Puppe im Operationssaal" (in German only).
- On 19th March, a report based on findings from our project “Beyond organization and self: The importance of reference groups in career transitions” was published in the „Tages Anzeiger“, a major Swiss newspaper. The article highlights the – sometimes unexpected – benefits of post-graduate management programmes. Artikel
- From March until summer Michaela Kolbe will be working as Visiting Research Scholar at the Center for Medical Simulation in Cambridge, Mass, USA.

Sifra Corver is working in exchange with the London Imperial College, Department Centre for Transport Studies, Dr. Arnab Majumbar during February 2012. She's working with Dr. Kohei Nonose from Japan on the development of measurement instruments for cognitive aspects (team situation awareness and team mental model) for ATC Enroute Control teams.

Gudela Grote was awarded the Best Paper Award 2011 by the journal Die Unternehmung for her paper "Risk management from an organizational psychology perspective: A decision process for managing uncertainties". article

We are happy to welcome Silvano Kobald on the first of December as Ph.D. student in our team. He will join the project-team of Martin Gubler, Cécile Tschopp and Wiebke Doden in the SNF project "Beyond organization and self: The importance of reference groups in career transitions". His provisional desk is in G12 and from January on in G08.

- Gudela Grote was invited by the Lloyds Register Educational Trust to deliver their annual guest lecture at Imperial College London. The full talk can be accessed though this link.
- A warm welcome to Wiebke Doden as new Ph.D. student in our team. She will be working in the SNF project "Beyond organization and self: The importance of reference groups in career transitions" together with Cécile Tschopp and Martin Gubler. Wiebke's desk is in G 09.

- We congratulate Martin Gubler on his promotion in organizational psychology at Loughborough University, UK. The title of his dissertation is „Protean and boundaryless career orientations – an empirical study of IT professionals in Europe“, and he was supervised by Prof. John Arnold and Dr. Crispin Coombs.
- Nadine Bienefeld won the 2011 Best Student Paper Award from the International Symposium of Aviation Psychology for her paper titled: ‘Emergency at 35'000 FT: How Cockpit and Cabin Crews Lead Each Other to Safety’ (ISAP, Wright University, Dayton, Ohio US) Award
- We would like to welcome Mona Weiss as Ph.D. student and Sonja Mötteli as trainee in our team. They both work with Dr. Michaela Kolbe in her SNF-project "Combined technical and non-technical skills training for managing unanticipated difficult intubations".

- Interesting not only for scholars: the video-podcast “Team Up!" (in english) made by Michaela Kolbe & Denniz Dönmez gives helpful inputs on how to work effectively in teams.
- ETH OAT team is now collaborating with Microsoft Schweiz concerning the evaluation of Microsoft’s Live and Work initiative. The project involves continuous monitoring and evaluation of the Live and Work project through an in-depth assessment of the work arrangements of Live and Work with a main focus on work-life balance, flexible work arrangements, team collaboration and team performance.

EJWOP Best Paper Award 2010: The article "Substitutes for leadership in anaesthesia teams and their impact on leadership effectiveness", published by Barbara Künzle together with Eniko Zala-Mezo, Michaela Kolbe, Johannes Wacker, and Gudela Grote in Volume 19 (5) of the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology (EJWOP) was selected by the Editorial Board of the Journal as the best paper published by the Journal in 2010. This award, sponsored by the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, NC, USA, comprises a $1,000 cash award and the invitation to present the paper at a special session at the upcoming European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology conference in Maastricht, The Netherlands, im May 2011. article
